Fluorescent fixtures and filters
52.5” x 51”
2025
This piece precisely re-creates the color of light as recorded with a colorimeter at the grave of Vladimir Nabokov in Montreux, Switzerland. In his autobiography Speak, Memory, Nabokov discusses his “case of colored hearing,” describing in detail the color evoked in his mind by the sound of each letter of the alphabet. Each of the 26 filter colors in this piece corresponds to one of these color descriptions.
